Notes sur New York

Pour préparer un voyage à New York, que nous avons effectivement fait avec bonheur durant la seconde quinzaine de mai 2008, j’avais pris des notes, recensé des liens, copié des avis éparts trouvés dans des forums, et enfin préparé une Google-Map. Ces notes et cette carte étaient destinées à mon usage personnel (elles étaient jusqu’ici protégées par un mot de passe). Tout cela n’est donc ni équilibré ni exhaustif, et conserve seulement la trace de ce que je souhaitais avoir sous la main sur place.

Ces notes pourront cependant en aider certains dans la préparation de leur propre voyage. Je les mets en ligne sans les remettre en forme. Ce n’est donc pas un récit de voyage, et ça ne remplacera pas un bon guide. Mais, si vous en avez l’usage : enjoy!

Brooklyn

Around the tenth anniversary of the film, you said that not much had changed — Diallo and Louima were in the news. How does it look to you now?

Regal E-Walk Stadium 13 : 13 salles récentes et grands écrans (d'abord Loews, puis absorbé par AMC, puis revendu à Regal). « Yes this theater is smaller than the AMC across the street. But it does still have stadium seating, and the staff is more attentive. I always check if my movie is here first before heading across the street. ».

Walter Reade Theater : « No hesitation here: The Walter Reade Theater — the NY Film Society's theater at Lincoln Center. Personnel d’âge canonique, blouses grises, prix notés à la main, un ordinateur pour 4 étages de bouquins (j’exagère à peine), des ampoules de 25 watts au sous-sol... Coney Island | Niagara Falls

« On the way to Niagara Falls, there is an area called Finger Lakes, in the wine growing region of NY. Lot’s of lakes, lots of historical houses. It may be worth finding a place somewhere around there for the night. Niagara Falls is quite touristy, but interesting, so it might be worth looking for something New England rural in the Finger Lakes region, something akin to the Vermont town in The Trouble with Harry. » (Jim)
